Entrepreneurial Development Programme

Pandit Nehru said, “To awaken the people, it is the women who must be awakened. Once she is on the move, the family moves, the village moves, the nation moves.” Women Empowerment is the need of the hour. An empowered woman contributes to the health and productivity of whole family and the entire community.

The Empowerment programme of Sri Kanyaka Parameswari Arts and Science College for Women aims at nurturing the spirit of entrepreneurship among students by providing a platform for challenging minds to think differently and experience entrepreneurship through hands on learning. The main objective is to tap their potential and transform their knowledge into entrepreneurial skills. From the academic year 2014-15, Empowerment programme is offering Government Certified Courses by ” Ooviyaas ” and from 2019-20, the government certificate courses are offered by ” Global Software Solutions“.

To promote entrepreneurship skill among students, stalls were put up in the name of SKPC- UPAADHI for 10 days during Navarthiri celebration 2019  in our college premises. The stalls that have been put up were Fashion Designing items, Paper Bag, Pooja items, Detergent items, Beauty Accessories, Sarees and dresses, Healthy Food items and Games. Total sales for an amount of Rs.1,11,682/- was made.

The programmes were organized by the EDP cell and in this academic year 2023-2024, under the guidance of Ms. B.Radhika, AssistantProfessor  & Department of Computer Science Shift I and with the support of 13 staff members, the following courses were given to all the first year students of both Shift – I and Shift – II.

The Diploma courses that have been offered under National Centre for Vocational and Technical Education (NCVTE) – MHRD, Government of India:

  • Diploma in Fashion Design
  • Diploma in Bakery Baking Technician
  • Diploma in Beauty Therapy
  • Diploma in Tally ERP 9
  • Diploma in Web Designing
  • Diploma in Event Management

A total of 548 students have got benefited.
